I saw similar bracelets on the net under the tag Persian storyteller bracelets. Never heard about them before and I can't find any information.
It has hand painted panels, the material might be bone? The setting is a magnetic alloy. Has no marks. It looks old and battered but I don't mind this, to me it just adds to the overall charm. I don't intend to wear it. Any thoughts ?

I just found new info about this kind of bracelets. Efesgirl is right - they are really from the 1940s. During the WW2, US and English military forces occupied parts of Iran. The servicemen often bought jewelry, most often bracelets for their girlfriends, mums or sisters at home.
Thank you Karen, Lentilka, Peasejean and Kyratango for your love/comment!

Beautiful piece, and thanks for the info! I have a similar one but with one panel missing :(
Mine is mother of pearl and looks very similar to yours, although the photo of the back of yours does look like bone. I've come across some with bone panels on other sites but they are flatter and are linked together with a couple of chain links rather than mounted in the metal frame.

Thanks for your input, Pebble! I had to go and inspect again that particular bracelet. The back looks like bone, as you said, but the front of the panels are just too smooth! Maybe because of the paint???
