For some reason I wanted this soon as I saw it, I thought it was charming, elegant even, in a boot sale this Saturday morning.

One plate with oriental sea scape and country scene. Now it could be plastic churned out by the million but you have six 6.5cm cups or sake vessels with it nicely decorated.

Hard to discern from the pictures, but knowing something first hand about Japanese ware, I agree with Rose. Looks like lacquer over plastic, IMHO, which is the common method and material now used in Japan in making lacquerware.

Excuse my dumb American provincial ways, but every time I see the term "car boot" or "boot sale", I gotta crack up! [;>)))

A boot sale is a national obsession in the UK. And you never know what you'll find. Thank you both

I guess they are called here:

      ~ Boot Sales
      ~ Tag Sales
      ~ Garage Sales
      ~ Flea market

etc, etc......Kinda the same in a sense.
