Another of the many ceramic clay pots I have found in my boxes of goodies lol
Actually I'm not sure if it is clay or ceramic....It is a very strong material & can hold an enormous amount of heat because I can leave it on top of a lightbulb for days with the lightbulb on & it only gets warm...never hot...

Lol I sometimes use it to dim my lamp light

    Thanks for looking

Would it be an old crucible for melting gold?

Thanks TassieDevil....you are right...I've found a few crucibles from looking....though not sure if it was used to melt Gold....hmm maybe that is what is stuck all over it...lol

In the pictures it looks like iron. Have you tried a magnet on it. It looks like the pots used to melt lead.

Thankyou Uncle Ron...I did try a magnet but no stick

No it sort of looks ceramic underneath and it has bits of something hard stuck on it....thats probably why it looks like Iron maybe
      cheers
