I have had the old calvents for years. The idea was to construct creative lighting from them. Now I have more projects than I can ever get to, in part because it is hard to pass up something old and interesting. When I saw these two pieces I thought them wonderful, and I still do. This is very much a nautical city, said to be the boating capital of the US with more boats per capita (not including my inflatible raft) than any other city. Each of these stand about 13" in height and 12" in diameter. They are port (red) and starboard (green), and rotate a full 360 degrees.

The estate from which these came was that of a man who moved to Washington from San Francisco with a house filled with designer mid-century modern danish furniture, and Saarinen tulip base teak tables (3), stools, bucket chairs, more Heller than I have seen in any one store.... a mid-century dream. However, this man had varied taste with the most beautiful antique oak pool table, snooker table and exquisite wood and brass score board, oak flat files and banks of drawers....an antique hunters dream, and tons of nautical....a nautical buyers dream, including military nautical from WWII. The interesting thing about this sale was that it was in an old development a distance outside of Seattle where the shoppers had absolutely no interest in mid-century that remained at the end of the sale. Interesting. It was an exciting sale. We went broke buying everything from nautical to nuts (with rusy bolts).
