Hello everyone.
I think the "glass bug" must have bitten me yesterday!!!!!
Saw this and just had to buy it.....Love the shape and colour!!
I do not know anything about glass.....could have been made yesterday for all I know!!!!
It is 8 inches tall.......
Any thoughts or comments welcome, thanks Judy

I think it's possibly Japanese or Taiwanese but could be Italian (not much help hey!)
This shape with the flared neck and crimped rim is very 60s and the spatter looks Asian to me.

Hello Karen, searching online using your "spatter" word I found some similar vases......they did not have that extra big bulb on the bottom though.....and none had any clues as to where they were made. They were however describing as "end of day glass". I know about end of day in plastics (bakelite)...... have you heard of this as far as glass is concerned?
The term end of day is rubbish really and most collectors avoid it as it is based on a furphy.
The term supposedly comes from a glass shop using multiple colours of glass to use up what is left over at the end of the working day. So the story goes they would blow glass using whatever was leftover and throwing lots of colours into the piece.
It's a furphy because all glass gets recycled from one day to the next - it all either goes back into the furnace for tomorrow, or left as cold frit.
These vases are generally made by blowing a smallish shape, rolling it in coloured frit (basically cold crushed glass) and the frit melts into the piece as it is heated and worked, but remains as a spatter through the base glass (or ground). This vase has a green ground with white spatter, and the spatter is spread so the frit was applied early in the process. A lot of the Czech glass you see here on CW has very clearly delineated spatter, in multiple colours, so they used a mix of frit later in the blowing process so it did not meld with the ground very much.
Sorry to bore you! In summary, some glass is described as end of day, but it's not technically a correct term.
I do think this is Asian, and guessing Japan or Taiwan.

Australia was one of the biggest importers of Japanese glass worldwide, so there is lots here!

Should I leave it as unsolved for a while? or would it be safe to mark out as solved ....being made in Japan.......I would be happy to do that lol.... no one else seems to be offering any suggestions.....what do you think?
