Hello CW friends!!
I've had this cast iron English Bulldog Puppy sculpture in my collection for a while. I think this one is very unique. I've not seen another one like it. It's a smooth one piece design with no seams or welds. It's also hollow inside. I'm still trying to figure out how this was cast in one piece. It is a very high quality casting. Most you see today are very rough castings and carelessly done. Not this one.
This one is very highly detailed and well cast. I love the poses of each puppy, especially the one reclining on the end.
This one is fair size at about 14" long and about 7" tall. It weighs 13.5 lbs. So, you wouldn't want to drop these little fellows on your foot. I've found no markings to indicate the maker of this and I'm not sure of it's age either. But, if I had to guess, I'd say the 1960's or 1970's.

Another nice one Scott. I am a little puzzled by this one. Because of the relief in the shape of this, the only way I see this could have been cast is by the lost wax method.
It looks more like an actual sculpture.
Is it hollow on the bottom? Does a magnet stick to it?

That is still strange to me. Does it look it was molded in two pieces and joined together?
I can't see how even one side of that would have been removed from the mold without damaging it.

I has no seams anywhere that would indicate it was molded in two pieces and then assembled afterwards. It's a very clean piece and really nicely done. I wish I knew who the manufacturer was.
It's hollow, but a very heavy cast iron piece (has a bit of rust on it in few places). It's quite puzzling to me as well.
