Here is a great addition to my antiques collection and, if I can find a good repair service, will have put back into daily use as it still runs.

The estimated year of production is 1904 for this Hampden, which is a lever-set stem-wind at the 3-O'clock position. The amazing fact is that the watch still runs all this time later, even with all the wear to it.

Can anyone tell me how many jewels this watch is?

Using the serial number on your movement and entering it in the Pocket Watch Data Base site, I came up empty handed, only the date. Maybe 11 jewels, not sure. I will get back with you if I find any more information.

Here's a link to the site. I believe the date you posted is correct.

pops52 I looked at that link as well, then looked at the one above that I posted. Seems to be conflicting as far as dates??

Thank you so much! The only difference I can see is that mine was gold-plated (still is on the inside) versus the nickle-plated one.

"Plate Finish: Nickel" & "Plate Type: Full Plate" refers to the "Top Plate" of the movement where the serial number 1838007 and HAMPDEN WATCH CO. is engraved. Your case is a gold plate, but the movement is nickel plate.
