Great looking (and heavy) mid-century bronze head vase/vessel/pitcher!

Two markings: 1st, I think there are raised initials 'TD' and what looks to be a date it looks like '37' or '57'. If it's a date my guess it would be circa 1950s; 2nd, looks like the initials 'NY' with a dagger symbol coming out of the 'N' at the top side. Perhaps 'NY' is for New York? Maybe the foundry where it was done?

Any info you can help with would be great as to artist or maker. I can't find anything in my internet searches but I think it could be something good, if only a nice piece of folk art. The markings make me think otherwise.

It's a really unique piece and in my opinion done very well and has killer patina. Any thoughts as to where it came from and who did it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
