HELLO-to all that I've talk to before! ARE YOU GUYS/GIRLS UP for another challenge? I GOT 1 FOR YA~~WHAT IS THIS OLD BIKE?
AND WHY THE WOOD RIMS-WITH THE UNITED STATES SPECIAL RACER TIRES ON THEM!-PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A GOOD FIND!!! I think its odd it has no brakes on it-plus it only has 1 speed on it also! with racing foot pedels-I looked up B.S.A-AND found a little on them-but nothing about this kinda of bike-it just spoke of the 3-pc' crank-thats about it! SO IF ANYBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BIKE-I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IT!!
THANK YOU""-C-DOGG

Birmingham Small Arms, probably from the thirties.
isnt wooden rims for the 1800's
think you'd best wait for Mr. wolfe on this one.......
It is a Track bike look here suspect 1940's, : http://vintagetrackbikes-corbettclassics.blogspot.com/2008/12/1898-laclede-track-racer.html
They used wood rims into the 1920s on some bikes,I've seen that chainring before but I can't remember where,I'm still looking.
I guess the bike is a BSA,I found one that sold on ebay a few weeks ago, that was a 1930s model,it didn't say anything about wood rims and it had different toe clips. This one is probably a little older.
WOW!! THANKS EVERYBODY!!!! YOU GUYS ARE GOOD-I look at this bike and im lost--you guys are shooting off info 1 by 1-I like it! I have the front wood rim-but its cracked! its junk--I wonder if you can get parts for this thing--or should I just let it go before I start a money pit-im not even into! I could do all the work-strip it//paint it/etc"! and clean everything oh so nicely and put it back together--but I really dont have the time-nor-are my 2 boys into it-it would be all me--then it sounds like alot! wares MR.WOLFE-WHEN YOU NEED HIM?
HE'S THE BIKE GURU--I could use his input on this item for sure! MR.POP'-you said race bike--I think you nailed it for sure--its my wifes gradpa's bike! and he raced bikes-and won a ton of speed skating medals back in the late 20's&30's-he even got a spot on the USA TEAM-but his family couldnt afford to send him upstate to train with the team!(but he sure won alot of medals-on this bike-and skates-a case full-4ft high-by 30'inches wide!) he was a busy guy-growing up-for sure!well thanks for all your help-and if you find anything else out-love to hear it! i put a huge cash reg"-on here too! Very Nice Bike!! It certainly is an early 1900's BSA. I'm digging the clear stamping on the rear rim...so what have you decided to do with this bike?
HELLO- how are you! I just checked my email for the night-good timing! Im not sure at all! I have the front rim-but its shot-(as in cracked-fully threw/bad!)-but the spoks and hub are good-and i have the tire too-that also says the special racer!I found out a little more on the bike and what it was used for! my wifes grandpa was a speed skater-so he rode this in the summer plus jog alot to keep his legs strong! in the winter thay put it up in the air on wood creats on all 4 sides-so he could ride in the house!-as far as what to do-I have soo much going on--ill never get to this project!! What you have in mind?-I started with bikes-then rupp's-then dirt bikes-then hot rods(those 2 were my fav""-for sure!!) the last 14+madd fishing every weekend-but hade to sell-not by choice! but re-doing this bike-i really have no mojo when I look at it! I have a bunch of other pic's if you want to see them-let me know! its no problem at all! thanks--im home tomm"-let me know! thanks c-dogg---p/s-have a good friday!!TGIF!!!!!
I'm currently rebuilding an early 1900's bike that both wood rims are also horribly cracked but otherwise the bike is in good condition. I would be interested in seeing other pictures of your bike. If i were you, i'd keep the bike around! Sounds like it has a great history within your family.
