found in a house i was cleaning out, anyone have an idea about these dolls? the larger doll has a marking on side of leg that says IV. The smaller doll has some type of writing/marking that is like an S over unreadable symbol.

First one is a China doll you don't mention size but was made at end of era of these types of dolls as she is not well defined in her features and her hair is plain. I would say 1920's . China dolls are made in very elaborate high quality to this lesser plain one . But she is a nice find . 2nd doll is bisque appears to be stone bisque and a doll house size doll. I would have to see mark to know who made her . Again these little dolls were made in different quality and painting , This one is not high quality but cute doll . Either German or Japan made . China doll is German . Always helps to put size and photo of any markings when posting . Welcome to CW :-)
