This is my last post for today. Usually I don't buy gold; well, I find myself saying that too often - LOL.
I just loved the beautiful red colour of the stone. Too bad that my pictures are not really showing the gorgeous stone.
I believe that the ring dates to the first half of the last century.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I am pretty sure because it was tested in the store and I spoke to the lady when she brought it out. The place I got it from is rather professional about their jewelry and that's the reason I seldom get a bargain there :(

Efesgirl, after reading again your link I went to have another look at the ring. I found some inclusions; at least I think that's what they are. Also, the ring is not that big at all: I am wearing it on my pinky:) Having said that, the only way to be really sure is to take it for a second opinion.

It could very well be a ruby, but if that woman or anyone else there are not gemologists then I would get a second opinion just to be sure.
I had a large ruby once in a 22k mens setting, huge ring. However I lost it and that was a sad thing to take. Love this ring of yours, and when I see it, I can imagine all the beautiful ruby red burning glitter !~
