Ceramic shards, possibly piece of a plate and pot found at the base of an old foundation wall circa. 1850-1870 is estimated. The building was used as a pork packing plant, located near the Ohio river in Cincinnati next to the Roebling bridge. The foundation as well as the shards were unearthed during excavations for the Banks project.
Any information on the possible manufacturer of these pieces would be interesting to know.

The stoneware is probably local, and I’m sure your aware of the huge amount of pottery that once dominated the Ohio river area. There are a few museum/historical societies that could help. The pic on the right looks like the pattern is all over, and and sometimes referred to as chintz. Couldn’t tell, but is it wine/purple coloured? A little different as it has snowflake pattern among the flowers, which might make it easier to identify

Yes it is a wine/purple color. Not so much a snowflake pattern but little flowers.

Welcome to CW. The piece on the left with the design on it I like very much. Looks like it came from a tile or a piece of thick pottery?

Gillian, it does look like its from a piece of large pottery.
