I have had this unglazed vase for many years. Any clues to the maker ? Its got a little dusty from decades in my attic, so tips on properly cleaning it would also be appreciated.

The right stack in the square reads 'Dai Nichi Hon', Great Japan. The left stack is likely the kiln and the marks in the oval the artist. The bottom mark in the oval may be an unusual form of Zan or Yama. The piece is very well done and the pale terracotta (?) not often seen. I have not found the marks in the usual references. I think this piece is well worth researching further and if I find anything, I'll add more. Help, anyone?

If wexval says something is worth further research, it's worth further research. You can both try posting your pieces to the Collecting Japanese group on FB:
