A new Micro Mosaic brooch in the shape of a horseshoe. On the collective pictures clearly shows the time difference. The latter brooch was made in the early 20th century and which is clearly visible in the tesserrae. These are larger than the older two horseshoe brooches. Because these pieces are smaller. Micro Mosaic, the older the piece of jewelry, the smaller / finer the glass pieces used. Hence, sometimes even for newer (20th century) Micro Mosaic jewelry, the word Micro is omitted.

These pieces of jewelry are works of art. Imagine the skill and patience it takes to make one of those brooches.

I agree, the skill and patience is indeed which are indeed those things that I so admire in micro mosaic. Moreover, in almost all the things that were made in earlier centurie when it was clear that time meant no money.
