Hal Fromhold was an Englishman who, in his early 30s, immigrated to British Columbia, Canada. He didn't stay there long and soon came to Southern California. After graduating college, he taught for a short stint then opened a pottery studio in Los Angeles in the early 1960s.

He is probably best known for his outrageous figural pieces and expressionistic glazing techniques.

This vase stands 8 1/4" (21 cm) tall with a 6" (15.3 cm) diameter at the widest spot.

Great shape and balanced so well by the three curved sections of glaze. Love the glaze too.

Thanks racer - this is one of his more sedate glazes.

You've got some great pottery pieces! I'm definitely gonna have to leave the glass section more often to check out this area.

Thank you very much. Pottery and glass are like brother and sister.
