    This was quite a surprise today at Goodwill! Lavendar Awaji is rare and prized. I found this on the $1 table! it has the remnants of a paper label too, which is also extremely rare. Perfect condition.

      Ho2 - excuse my ignorance. What tells you this is Awaji? I may well have passed this by.

      hi racer4four. first, there's something about the glaze which caught my eye and when i turned it over, i saw the 'Japan' semi-circular mark which is at 7 pm in the photo. not all awaji is marked, but this mark is a sure-sign of awaji. the thick foot rim and glaze on the bottom is also a sign.

      It is a beautiful colour. The lustre is very subdued but still there I think. It actually screams Awaji. The foot. The form. The control.

      Thank you Kevin. i agree w/ you. the surface is probably better than any of my other awajis. it's absolutely perfect - no scratcher or anything.
