I found these beauties at Volunteer's of America this morning. They seemed familiar but I just couldn't remember the maker. Beautiful dark satiny purple glass although they look black. I knew the poppy decor was typical of the "art nouveau" style and a pair no less. So no hesitation here simply grab and go. ! A quick check online returned the name that escaped me "Tiffin" however the painting was something I was not familiar with. It's called "coralene" a paint that has glass beads mixed into it. It creates almost a reflective quality. While most of these do not survive with their paint intact, these retain almost all of the paint with minimal loss to the high spots on the petals. Slightly different colors to the flowers. One is a bit more orange-yellow than red. The bottoms are different on both too. One is smooth and the other has a central ring. These were created in molds and have a side seam so one may be a bit older that the other. They were very reasonably priced and their value is a great return on my investment but I think I'll keep them at home with me for a while. -Mike-

A great pair there Mike - I hope you didn't need the head down shoulder charge those are for me action!
Even with the value I would have them around for a while too. Great looking vases!

Thanks Karen....well not quite they are a bit heavy for their size. So it was like carrying two small bowling balls in each hand...lol. :) Nice thick glass.

Really sumptuous looking colours, on a black background. Doesn't get much better.

Thank you Rick and Gillian....how they stayed together all these years amazes me and without hardly any paint loss. :)
