This is a Madam Alexander Baby Doll, I believe she is 30's or early
40's not exactly sure. I just fell in love with her. My Mother says she had one when she was little she is 72 yrs old. Does anyone know if they repair composition dolls anymore. I want to get her restored
Her poor head need a ton of work.

There are people out there who do it. First make sure you find someone who will only fixes the scalp. When you change the face of a doll, I don't care how well they do it, it will take away the value. You will see re-done dolls do well on eBay, but these are not collectors buying these dolls, but sentimental people wanting their old doll back that looks new. Also do your homework and make sure they come well recommended.

Here's an example. A good doll doctor will not come to you. There is a good chance you will have someone who has created no account here telling you how great they are..uh no. There are many times I have irked people with the opinion that redone dolls lose value, sorry but that is true of most any antique. Serious doll collectors want original dolls. The scalp won't matter much as the wig is on there anyway.

I think you may have a Bitsey there? :) Unless you have a Doll Doctor near you, you will have to send her out.

Thanks so much for the information, I had a feeling about being careful who I
let work on her, I agree with you about sentimental value. My Mom wants her
so bad, I am giving it to her, but I wanted to get her fixed first.
