    Hello,

I dug this wrench up on a piece of farm property my family has had for nearly fifty years near Richfield Springs, NY.

It was next to the remains of a stone building that was most likely a small stable at one time. The building is just a pile of moss covered stones where the walls once stood in an approximate 20' x 15' rectangle. The building is about 50' from the shore of a lake and about 150' from where a small dam and sawmill once stood.

I like the look of this wrench and can make out the numbers/letters "70 TO 28 (6?)". I know it is completely weather/earth worn but I do not want to brush it or scrub it clean just yet until I can find out some things about it.

Would anyone happen to know anything about this wrench? Style or make or manufacturer circa a certain year? Has anyone seen anything like this before?

    Thank you,
    Michael Rispoli

You can try boiling 2% H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide found in many stores) and then a soaking in hot Bar Keeper's Friend (or, better still, 1/3rd oxalic acid)/water mixture for a few days. Then some baking soda, if desired results are achieved, to neutralise the acid.

      Thank you, SpiritBear.
I will try that and hopefully I will be able to find some other identifying markings.

It should help clean it up (but do not pick at the rust) a bit so you can display it.
