Hi, I have had this pad 15yrs the image on the front is one by Mr Mackintosh famous watercolour and got it out to research it, bought in box of items and just left till today. Anyway I was wondering if the marble plaque had been drilled and made into a pad, or has it been always as a pad. It looks that way as the punch holes on the plaque are not dead in line and it looks as though it has been cut to size, as the plaque is bigger than the pad. Item is definately marble or some kind of stone with a glaze on the picture side, I tested for resin no smoke or smell with pin. A little hole has been filled on the blank side, which tells me someone liked it. Has been hand carved as I can see tool marks on the item. Has anyone ever seen this image in marble or even as a book? Also do you know the exact age as the item has age, looks nothing like the reproduction marble plaques is it original art nouveau or have they sold these at a later date. Also could it be another artist copying his work. Pictures don't do it justice.

Thanks again efesgirl and I will upload some jewellery sometime in the next week
Thank you blunderbuss2 as well, I believe this one is really good myself not repro could make a good profit on the 50p I paid, I was going to upload it on a Rennie Mackintosh site but they wanted £20 just to join so I'll wait until I see the person I know who is really into this art nouveau.

Thanks to racer and aura, I just thought I would update you on the glaze on the front of the plaque, I now believe there is a thin coating of mother of pearl. When cleaned it comes up a lot whiter, (I won't clean it too much). With the shine on the front I should have noticed this earlier but sometimes it takes me a while to notice things. I am now 90% certain this is an art nouveau plaque. Now just to find if it was an artist from the time who copied it. The yellow colour on the front is just a build up of dirt, smoke, and other stuff which has stuck to it over the years.
