Don't know where to begin on this piece. Is it a part of a larger piece or is it intact? On the inside of top part there are little pieces that look like they are meant to pinch/hold onto something. Could this be something to clip onto furs or coats? It is an interesting piece with lot of cool details I just have no idea what it is!

Glad I am not the only one who has no idea! If you have seen them before do you think this looks intact, whatever it is?
It is for a pocket watch!!! just needs a swivel on the end of the chain to clip the pocket watch to.
The clip at the top clips on to a breast pocket, the pocket watch goes inside the pocket, and the decorative mesh chain hangs on the outside of the pocket.
Thanks so much for info. It crossed my mind very briefly that it could be watch related but I thought it looked too feminine to be for a pocket watch as I always think of them as being for men. I have so much to learn!

There are many styles of this type of clip-on watch chain/fob. Here is one that has a wax seal & the last photo shows it attached to the breast pocket.
