This was found in a display with a group of buttons. I have looked and am unable to determine what S&C or C&S is for. Tere were many military button s in the case but I was thinking that these were for a railroad.
I am trying to identify this old button. Thanks fo your assistance.

Strawbridge & Clothier. Founded by two Quakers of the same last names in 1862. A department store that was independently owned until 1996, when it was bought by the May Dept store, which in turn became part of Macy's in 2006. The reverse should probably say: Mark Cowan & co. New York(?)
