Hi, found this very long chain in an anstiqueshop but forgott to ask what it was used for. I'm thinking it is a chain for a larger Clock due to the large key (about 3 cm) and the fact that the chain is almost one meter long. Haven't tested it but I'm thinking it's brass. I'm planning to find a nice locket to join the key, to wear as a odd and fun necklace. In the right photo I´m showing together with a necklace.
I'm grateful if someone can tell me what this is. Thanks.

Added information: Thanks to friends I now know this is a long chain belcher links most likely worn by a woman in victorian time. It has a key to wind up pocket watch.

Nice chain, belcher links! Your pics are a delight too :-)

A guard chain, women wore them full length or more conveniently shortened by retained at the belt, to avoid banging the watch!

Pw-collector thankyou for coment, so this key for winding a pocket watch? I thought it was to large for a pocket watch but when you say so then I realized the part of the key that you hold in your hand doesn't have to be small, that would make it harder to hold it. Thankyou :)

Beautiful guard. There are some lovely ornate pinchbeck or gold plated pocket watch keys that would go with this chain. It's a pity it wasn't gold but still a beauty.
