    I found this in VT about 20 years ago. It's 20" long and fits comfortably on my bicep while gripping the bent handle. The blade was honed to a sharp chisel edge. A peeler or carver - in cabin making, maybe?

      It's called a "buttress" (sp?). It's used to trim horse's hooves when shoeing them.
