This is a US purchase with a harlequin / Pierrot figure and marked "Czechoslovakia" "P". The loose "P" I think may be Pfohl, but would ask the group about that. The enamelled "Czechoslovakia" I haven't seen before. Maybe someone else has? I would think it a bit odd were it not for the same colour being used in details on the figure.

    Well, all comments welcomed!

It is 23cm high. The ground is so dark, I can't see if it's amethyst or blue, but I think amethyst.

The enamel has been hand-painted and fired which made me think Rössler at first.

I remembered that JERICHO had some examples. Maybe he will be able to make more comment. I have found a couple of examples that I have in my Tango file and about four examples of the enamel signature.

Thanks, Kevin. This matches the shape of Jericho's second.

I used to have a file of enamel decors (40 or so distinct ones) this folder had about 30 pics all with the same them I think I called it "Deco clowns" the cooler ones were on lidded dishes. Sadly I lost all my enamel files (except Loetz) in a house move... if anyone has a copy please let me know so I can rebuild that folder.

I think a glass company made blanks and another company decorated them (and fired them). Sometimes enameling happened outside the coountry. It would be good to do a shape study of these enamel types and see if they could be shape-matched to other decors and it would help up with the maker ... they are a very cool motif- jm
