    Picked this up at an Estate Sale for $2 a couple weeks ago. It is heavy pressed glass, 4 1/2" high by 7 1/2" across. I put it under a blacklight and it does have a greenish glow. I couldn't find the pattern anywhere I looked. Can anyone ID this?

      Your fern dish is pattern #587 from the NUCUT line by Imperial Glass Co. c1914. The NUCUT line rarely had a pattern name and I cannot find that this has been given a collector name. Some of these were issued with an accompanying nickel plated liner.

      Thank you TallCakes. I especially like the little bit of history on the piece, since I am just starting with collecting. Do you know why they called them a "fern"?

      this is a common shape for fern bowls for displaying and growing ferns. Here's an interesting read from online about fern bowls:
