      Me three! LoL!

Hi, Cultcha. Sorry for getting here a little late.

Let's see,....... well, it looks like a fruit knife to me, also commonly called a watermelon knife. It was obviously used by George Perry & Sons, Inc. to promote their business. I can't make out the tang mark on the blade, though, which is not surprising because I'm going blind from too much time on the computer! Hey, where's all the other knife buffs out there, eh??? LoL.

thanks Nevada. so it's a watermelon knife? that's cool! it says 'stainless colonial from [?] USA' on the lower part of the blade.

thanks so much for solving this Nevada! George Perry & Sons were purveyors / growers of watermelons and this is an advertising piece for them. and it's a really cool knife which works really well with watermelons! next time i get one, i'll take photos of it being used for that.

Nevada, et. al. - Technically it's called a "Melon Knife" since it was used in the produce industry for all types of melons. It definitely should not be called a "fruit knife" as that is a completely different thing. These long jack knives are also found with advertising from sausage manufacturers but I don't know what purpose they served in that industry. Some have a second small blade, a tiny fork, a long serrated "saw" blade, and/or a pocket clip on one side.

Thanks for that great info UncleRon! i'll keep my little melons peeled for more of them.
