I bought this yesterday for 12,00 Euro ($13.16) from Geri, one of two rings I wanted out of her stash. Just a bit ago, I found the maker's mark. Stuck against the inside panel and very hard to photograph.
The alligator collection was from 1988-1989.
Thanks to davyd, I know the name of the designer and have found a couple of others like mine online.

It's by Barry Kieselstein Cord - their jewelry was very pricey (nice look but nothing extraordinary - no idea what the hype was about) and they went out of business 10-15 years ago.
