    Hello CW friends!!!

I just bought this trunk within the past week simply because I liked the looks of it, it's a really well made trunk and I got it for a cheap price. However, I'm stumped and know nothing about this one.

It's fairly heavy and measures 17" wide, 14" tall and 15" front to back.

It's patent leather covered inside and out, has very heavy brass handles on each side, has a black exterior and midnight blue interior. There's a drop down panel inside the lid, with a spring loaded brass latch, that when opened, reveals a crisscrossed string pattern, evidently made that way for a particular reason.

It's an extremely well made trunk. You can actually see that the trunk has dovetail joints on the sides and top, the imprint shows thru the patent leather covering. Even the tray shows dovetail joint imprints thru the patent leather covering. So, it's a well made piece.

I do not know if this trunk is European made or American made. I'm going with European made on this one. The only marking on this one is on the lock. The marking reads "Davis's Patent" with a Crown logo and G.R. (perhaps G.B.) just below the Crown mark.

So, anyone have any information on this one that would help me identify this lovely little patent leather trunk?

Thanks for any help and thanks also for stopping to have a look!!!!

    Scott
