    Hi CW Gang:

Okay, here is one to tug on your heart strings.....A sad Big eyed Puppy done on Velvet Painting. I just love it as his image just pulls your eyes and your heart right too him. Plus around this time those other Big Eyed prints were also popular. I think might be from Mexico as the wooden chunky frame reminds me of that. I think this is from around the 1970's era.

Thanks for LOOKING // LOVING !!

    ~ Rose ~

I rarely watch motion pictures, but yesterday I did. I watched The Plague Dogs, which was the most painful animated movie I've ever seen. It starts out with a horrific scene and continues on from there. Pertains to animal testing. Their accents were a bit hard to understand at times, but it made me begin to cry at the end.

Awww, who could resist those eyes Rosie? Back in the mid-seventies, while living in Southern California, we used to cross the border into Tijuana and Ensenada, and I bought several of these velvet paintings. What I loved about them, is how the vibrant colors poped against the Black Velvet. I traded one that had an outer space theme to a friend for a Coca Cola mirror which hangs in my living room to this day :-)

      Hi Rose,

I remember a version of this up in my attic when I was a kid in the 70s. I think the original work was done in the 60s by an artist named Girard Goodenow, aka Gig. If you google 'Gig big eyed puppy' and look in the google images tab you'll see a bunch of versions of it.

And yes, those eyes really suck you in! I can't tell you how much it broke my heart as a kid, wondering who would take care of that sad little pup.
