My aunt had a print of Jan Vermeer's famous painting YOUNG WOMAN WITH A WATER PITCHER. An artist herself, she decided to copy Vermeer's work. She attached Vermeer's print on the back of her framed painting along with a note which read "copied from a Vermeer print."
She told me she painted it sometime in the 20s. Her second painting is that of her father's violin, which he made and played himself. I have one of the violins he made (see Grandpa's Violin) but I'm not sure if my violin is the same one she painted.
