Here's another little goodie I picked up today from Volunteer's of America. This one actually fits my ring finger. The band is elaborately chased and detailed and set with a beautiful translucent Carnelian. Rather substantial at 12 grams but very comfortable to wear it's quite capable of leaving a mark if fists were to fly.
Carnelian's metaphysical properties are: Emotional warmth, Sociability, Creativity, Individuality, Memory, Appreciation of nature, Harmony, Courage, Happiness, Self-esteem, Rebirth, Reincarnation, and Past life recall...sounds like I found the answer to all my problems and then some...lol. -Mike-

Carnelian is a variety of Chalcedony. A silica of very fine intergrowths of Quartz and Moganite. Agate, Onyx, and Chrysoprase also belong to this family of semi-precious gem stones. Carnelian is a 17th Anniversary gemstone.

Thanks Kiyoshi and Karen...it really is an impressive ring and I love wearing it but I'm afraid I'll smack the stone against something and crack it. So I won't wear it everyday, just now and then to show it off. :)

Thanks Scott...I used to have an English teacher who would turn his ring around and thump you in the head if you weren't paying attention. Don't think you could get away with that today...lol :)

I remember the street vendors in Toronto used to sell these types of rings as cheap as 10 dollars, but that of course was about 1976-80. I have a gold eagle with the detail is quite dangerous. You got yourself a beautiful ring.

Yours may be older but it is hard to tell, esp when you get it cleaned !
I don't see any chasing on that ring . It looks cast from a mold.
