    Hello everyone.

There is an interesting story that goes with this bracelet!

There is a pawn shop here which we visit probably every month or so, and often have found some lovely vintage rings at very reasonable prices!
One such time in 2011, I spotted this bracelet in the display case. It looked quite old to me and peering, I thought i could see hallmarks on some of the links. The price tag was turned around so I couldn't read it.
I asked the salesman if I could have a look at it(just out of interest because I knew I would probably not be able to afford it anyway)! When I had it in my hand I could see it was hallmarked on every link......that has to be good.... so I turned over the price tag, tried to be really casual lol, and said yes, I will take this one thank you!!
Over to the register we went, the bracelet was scanned and the attendant says......oh this is wrong...I will have to see the manager.......which he did, and came back with a " This was supposed to be $390.00 but we will let you have this for $350.00
Naturally I was not happy, but not really expecting to buy it for the $48.00, yes $48.00 on the price tag and not wanting to make a scene, I left the store!! Put that one down to experience!
One month later, same store, same salesman, same bracelet, same procedure, same $48.00 price tag.........I got my bracelet for $48.00. I think they knew there would be a scene this time!!!

Sorry, that was a bit long hey..... hope you like this bracelet, I think it pretty much speaks for itself and hopefully you can see the 9ct hallmarks on the links and back of padlock as well as the lovely detail on the sides of the padlock.
    Thanks, Judy

What a lucky find and the bracelet is amazing!!! I think the staff just forgot to remove a wrong price tag and forgot about the bracelet itself! Their loss, your gain!!! :)

Your patience and persistence won out Tassie. I've had that happen to me as well. Which only proves it was meant to be your. :)

Thanks Martika, I let it go the first time, but no way was I going to miss out the second time!! I am a placid person and I like to be fair, but this was just plain stupid!

      Go you!
Besides the cost, it's a lovely bracelet. How old do you think? Any maker's marks ?
(I almost sound expert there but it's all a facade)
    6. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Thanks Mike, this was a first for me and I found it quite stressful even though it turned out in my favour. :)
    7. fleafinder fleafinder, 7 years ago
Hurray to your find tassie. Great save there:))) Yeah racer, i saw a mark there on the back of the heart shape but i dont really know what is it
    8. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
      Thanks Karen,
No there aren't any maker's marks.
As a guess, I like to think Edwardian perhaps??
Might have to see if I can find out when the stamping of all links was in favour!!
    9. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Thanks FF and the mark on the back of the heart says 9ct (for 9ct/9K gold)

Hi Tassie oh i see.. because i was staring at the third picture and i thought i was a mark that looks like a little alien. Didnt know it is 9 ct!

      Thanks there:0)

Lovely bracelet Judy, with the clasp and the chain it could be Victorian, heart clasps were very popular in that era, saying that they were popular in the Georgian period, but I'll stick to Victorian. Great piece, great price.

typo error -i *saw a mark not i was a mark lol
    13. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
You are right FF, it does look like an alien lol!!!
And we need an edit button or something too.
I spend so much time proof reading my posts!!!!
    14. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Thanks Jean, I would be more than happy with either Edwardian or Victorian lol!!

      Great patience you had ;-D
You got a victorian piece for peanuts!
    18. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Haha, thanks Pascale!! Victorian from both you and Jean!!! That's fantastic thank you both!!! I wish I could get the patience to concentrate and try and remember styles, signs and telltale clues for the jewellery that I have!!! That would be really helpful!!

Classically beautiful piece of jewellery. You can get lucky. Pawn shops are preferable to antique stores in my opinion, but nothing beats the casual seller.
    20. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Thanks Magician, this pawn shop used to be really good with antique and vintage jewellery, but they are not getting the stock much either now.......plenty of newer pieces being hocked I guess, but I don't know what is happening to the old pieces!! Must be ebay or etsy I suppose!
But you are right about the casual seller at markets or garage sales!!
    21. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 7 years ago
That was a very good buy, Judy! The Victorian period was approximately from 1837-1901. Goldsmiths were still stamping every link into the 1920s. Albert chains are a fine example of that kind of hallmarking.

Thank you Thomas, you have a great weekend too!!
    23. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Thanks Bonnie, and for the info! I had no idea how long that stamping went on for & don't think I am likely to see a solid gold hallmarked watchchain any time soon either lol!! Can always dream I suppose!

So good that you went back. Where I am it's the law - if seller makes a mistake in the purchaser's favour on the price label, they must sell it to you for that price.

After looking on eBay, Etsy etc. I've come to believe that a Belcher Chain or a Book Chain are not in my future. Sigh.
    42. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Thanks Gillian, Pretty sure that is what happens in supermarkets and the like here, but wasn't prepared to argue the first time, so just let it go! But the second time they knew for sure that they were at fault and I think the look on my face said it all for them!!
I was happy to have it as I didn't think I would ever be able to afford one either!!!
You keep looking though....you just never know!!!
