      Such a sad sad letter from this poor unfortunate soldier. So many died at Gettysburg.

      What a wake-up letter. Very soberly written, so pain was dampened by morphine or shock. Still hoping for victory of his side but still takes a moment to mention being treated well by his enemy. Reading this letter is one of memorable moments of researching history. Thanks for sharing !

      Soldiers in situations like this, have a high respect for each other. It's a respect & bond that extends beyond the lines that cannot be explained to others, - or maybe even each other.
