I found these bowls on a shelf with assorted bits of modern Oriental ceramics. The condition is amazing, as there are only two very minor chips on the bottom rim of one of the bowls. I have another tin glazed Delftware earthenware bowl which dates from around 1820. Not sure if these are earlier or later. Still investigating. :-)))))

Bill, old they definitely are - just how old? Definitely hand made. It so nice to feel the ridges on the inside walls of these bowls and wonder who made them all those decades ago.

Ken - they do seem to be thin tin glazed porcelain. I don't know for sure if they are Chinese (I'm lousy with that stuff, lol). I did find them among other newer Chinese/Japanee ceramics, most likely out of the same house.
Is there a taping of an episode of Tussen Kunst en Kitsch nearby ???

Ken - there was, on November 7th in the Cube Museum in Kerkrade. I was there and was videoed as I came in. You might see me on TV in 6 months, unless I get edited out, lol!
I have to watch their programming schedule and see if they are coming somewhere in my neighborhood next year.

Ken - it's definitely tin glazed. That's the only thing I know for sure, lol!
They are in too good a condition to be tin glazed. It chips like you wouldn't believe. I hope I see you in the Kerkrade episode. I love the show.
i was going to say what vetraio just said. when you hold them up to a strong light or the sun, can you see light throug them? that would mean that they are porcelain.
Looks like porcelain to me, possibly Portugal?
i would say Chinese porcelain.
i don,t have a good feeling about this, but i am not expert on this
however i know this design peony bird design by means of the so called blue and white carp bowls, who were determined to revival pieces late 19 century
but they were 4 character kangxi
so the best case scenario is a stray revival piece , actually i got VERY serious doubts about even that, the color is off
sorry i don,t know precisly , it does,not make sense , you don,t ought to have this dispersion the glazing, possibly late 1900, this got nothing to do with jiaqing period that,s all i can do, cute
