    One of two pieces of Loetz "Empire" Decor in my collection. Empire is Texas decor with the added festoons. This one is a bowl with a Blitz glass (clear) ground and draped with iridescent textured gold swags, and adorned with 3 balls. 3.5" tall. 4.5" across base. 9" across widest width. Fire polished rim with a ground and polished pontil. PN II-2594. Circa 1905.

    I should note that "Blitz" in German means "lightening". Perhaps they thought the strands of clear glass layered on top of a clear ground resembled lightening.
