I picked it up only to reflect light in the dim basement and reflect the antiques theme.

The mirror itself is in poor shape, with someone having made it "Shabby Chic" (which I hate) at some point. The original paint acts like the old leaded paint at my other house and has a brown "cracked" paint over it.

The back is tacked on with an old rough-planed board over it. The eye-bolts appear to be quite vintage too.

The frame is simple with an arch, some incises, and a floral relief (which appears to be carved from one piece of wood).

The back of the mirror is not painted. The glass is smooth and very thick. Even for a mirror, it is quite heavy.

This is definitely a 'forced' job about it...I personally wouldn't call it 'shabby chic'. Was probably a very nice piece at one time...hey, as long as it does it's job, then it's all good right?!

It's a decent piece under the old and new paint.

In my opinion Spirit, the crackled paint adds so much character. I like it as is :-)
