this little beauty came in the mail today. i won it on an ebay auction. unfortunately, it is missing a foo dog cover [i think]. the whole piece is small. maybe i'll get a miracle and find one! 5" wide by 2" tall.

Very nice find Ho2! To put in my two cents... if it was missing a lid wouldn't you expect the rim to be straight and not with a lip that flares out? And, let's say it had a lid, wouldn't you have expected the gilding to be worn around the edges? Just a couple of thoughts :-)

Nice Koro I have some Hododa pieces. As for the lip I don't see a issue on the lid being a mental or pottery would most likely sat on the flared lip and not the rim of the opening. good luck on finding a cover. those are the first things to brake on these or in fact anything with a lid since its something being handled a lot. That's why you see old Ginger jars with a wood covers. could have something made to replace it.
thank you grendel! i was thinking the same thing. i think i might have a silver mesh top made for it - a really nice one. i have a friend who could do that.
