    this plate is signed, but i can't read it. there's lots of gold decoration on it and unfortunately, a tiny chip on the underside of the rim - not visible from the top. i hope to learn more about it. thank you!

      I think the bottom characters read Dai Nippon (Great Japan) so the top characters are the maker’s mark. Similar marks, for the most part, with no english wording, appear to be made in the 1890-1920’s period, but I did not find yours. I think you can ask for help at this site:
