The flying sub: Voyage to the bottom of the sea. Aurora 1960's model.

The flying sub was carried in the berth of the mother ship "seaview" and was launched from a hatch on the bottom of the submarine.

The inside compartment shows 2 figures and the 2 rockets. In the tv series the flying sub moved very fast under water and even much faster when it entered the air from below the sea.

What a great show! I watched it every week. All the underwater scenes were filmed in a lake behind Universal Studios. David Hedison will be 90 this coming May.

I feel like they should have made that toy a stereoviewer.

What a great idea. The stereoviewer would have been a hit for sure.

Wow, this takes me back. I read of people having nightmares over Space 1999, I still remember one I had as a child involving a cactus like monster on my mothers bed (I wonder what Freud would make of that!) from this series I believe

Younger days gone by Vintagefran. One other CW member commented on my Space 1999 post that he had nightmares. I was good with all the series. When I saw Physco at a young age the shower scene gave me nightmares.

Loved Space 1999 as well, actually I'd watch anything sci fi, Star Trek, I have a model Enterprise, Dr Who, I have a toy Tardis :) Another of my favourites, Land of the Giants, is being shown on British TV at the moment and is as enjoyable now as it was when I was 10...I wonder if a toy Spindrift exists, if it does I want one! Lol

Hi Vintagefran sounds like you have a fine collection of sci fi pieces! There is a Spindrift plastic model well actually more then one. In a day or so I will post my Spindrift model and add more history for you to check out.
