I've
had this old clock a long time , was this clock made in 1807 ,Anyway it still works ,I love to hear it chime .

Your clock was not made in 1807, but it is the 1807 model produced by the William L. Gilbert Clock Co. that was based in Winsted, Conneticut. Your clock was actually made in the 1930's. It is known as a tambour clock, with a Dual Chime, as it has a two note chime.

Gilbert has the number 1807 on a number of styles or models of their clocks. If you do an internet search on Gilbert 1807 you'll easily find a few examples (not all of them tambours). This is a tambour as ticktocktime100 states and they were most popular in the 1920s through the 30s. This type of strike movement is also sometimes referred to as a "Ding Dong" or "Bim Bam" movement. It sounds like some doorbells. I can't confirm this but I've read from one source that W. L. Gilbert claimed to have roots in the clock industry dating back to 1807. William Gilbert started becoming personally involved in clock manufacturing sometime around 1828. William L. Gilbert and Company started around 1845. I haven't found your clock's model name in my references but I hope this helps a little. Perhaps another collector can help you nail things down better. Thanks for sharing your heirloom with us.
