When researching this piece, I noticed that I'm not the only one whose camera decides the flow blue bleeds and glows a deep, most saturated blue-- much unlike how it looks in person (it is in person quite blue, but it does not seem to glow like Unedited Photo 2 shows).
One seller also edited her photos to try and counter-act the camera's decision that it glows and bleeds blue, thus removing colour from the background and ending up with the plate looking purple (I couldn't get it to stay blue but look how I wanted).
Anyway, here is the "Shell" pattern (there is a shell, but truly this is more of a floral theme than a shell theme), made by E. Challinor Co. of England. Circa 1842-1867.
It's a heavy-duty plate.
what does the number on the bottom mean? I am asking because I have this odd shaped small dish/bowl with the colors as you have but on the bottom it has a 3 in the same color of blue, but not circled nor squared up in the middle, it's in a corner on the bottom
The spangling hurts the value but that's a really beautiful piece. Can you identify the mark on the bottom??
Pastime Pro, most numbers happen to be mold, style, or piece numbers. They don't usually have much significance to collecting.
KRockenbach, do you mean the crazing-- crackled glaze? It just says Shell, and E. C. for E. Challinor Co. Then there's a P. What looks like an incuse mark is just the glaze.
