Found this beautiful antique inkwell at an estate sell and have baffled many as to who may have made it and the correct terminology to describe it.
The cats almost look like Sphinx and the Snakes have wings . It has French look with Napoleonic style. Any ideas ?

Use all four pictures! Look for arks everywhere. On all the bottoms.
Marks! Look for marks everywhere. That is fantastic. List the candle sticks as a separate posting with all4 pics.
I hate buying these things, these are being reproduced at an alarming pace, was relieved to sell mine. It is a very nice one however.
Appreciate the response, This is not a repo, but we just want to try and determine a maker. We have looked for markings everywhere this is what we do, but the style of the sphinx and the snake with wings is what is throwing us off.
