I bought this emerald crystal cluster seven years ago from a reputable website, which specialises in auctioning minerals, gemstones and they are still in business. The specimen was described by them as :
'This nearly 300 gram mass of intergrown emeralds is a very significant locality specimen simply for its size, so much pure emerald in one place. It has really rich, deep green colour, unusually good for this Brazilian material. The crystals were physically removed from the surrounding matrix, and this piece probably had a top layer of calcite removed. On the backside some schist still remains. Unfortunately it does have some minor damage, though it still displays pretty impressively. It is a heirloom piece owned by the owner of the mine, where it's coming from.'
By the way it was mined in Bahia, Northeast Region, Brazil and measures 13.9 x 6.0 x 3.4 cm.

Thank you Celiene, OneGoodFind, Fleafinder, Kyra and Master for your comments and to every CW member who stopped by !!! :)
Only some small parts are gem grade, at least what I was told. Mostly it's commercial grade. The auction started at $1000, I was the only bidder. The seller is a very good specialist in minerals, so no way I underpaid for it. But it still brings me joy when I look at it, so it was worth it.

what an interesting piece! the most beautiful emerald jewelry i've ever seen was some wonderful older pieces i saw in Colombia - just gorgeous pieces!

Hello, Ho2cultcha, yes, the most beautiful and prized emerald crystals are from Colombia. Mine is from Brazil. Brazilian emeralds are beautiful as well, however in average they don't reach the quality of Colombian emeralds.
