Hello CW friends and fellow collectors!!
While going thru all of my boxes of books, I stumbled across a 1960 edition of The Wind In The Willows, by Kenneth Grahame. This one was published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York. The first Wind In The Willows book was published in 1905.
Though only 57 years old, this is a nice clean copy with no markings and nice crisp pages. And though the original dust cover is missing, it's still a really nice book. I remember reading this as a child in elementary school as well a watching The Wind In The Willows episodes on television.
I also have the Double feature of The Wind In The Willows /The Willows In Winter DVD and VHS that was released by GoodTimes video. Apparently, the DVD has become quite collectible and sells for well over $100 today, as it is no longer manufactured. My two boys always enjoyed watching that a small children.

Thanks friend!! Yes, we have many things that we'll eventually pass along to our two fellows for their future children to enjoy as well. Gotta get those guys out of college first:)

My kids are done school and settled into their careers. I will be a grandpa in a couple of months excited for sure. I'm slowly building a gi joe collection for my grandson. My son told me he wishes he would have kept his joes. Haha for me Scott I can enjoy the fun of finding the little soldiers all over again.

Congratulations on that grandchild that's on its' way! Our CW friend fortapache would be your G.I. Joe go to guy! He's got an awesome action figure collection. Wish I still had my 1970 G.I. Joe and all of the accessories I had with him. I also wish I still had all of my Tonka toys from back then as well!

I never had too much of the 60's gi joes more tabletop hockey games, aurora models, puzzles... Tonkas were solid. I have managed to keep a couple of Dinky toys from my childhood. My son played a lot with his joes. Maybe one time fortapache and I will talk about this. Thanks Scott I'm pumped about being a grandpa.

Its staunchest advocate was, however, an important one. Theodore Roosevelt, then US president, wrote to Grahame in 1909 to tell him that he had "read it and reread it, and have come to accept the characters as old friends". Roosevelt eventually persuaded US publisher Scribner to take it on. Another fan was AA Milne, who adapted it into the play Toad of Toad Hall, and wrote in an introduction to an edition of the novel that "one does not argue about The Wind in the Willows". "The young man gives it to the girl with whom he is in love, and if she does not like it, asks her to return his letters. The older man tries it on his nephew, and alters his will accordingly," said Milne. "The book is a test of character
Wow!! Those are some really high $$$$$$$ copies!! And, a very cool factoid as well! The oldest children's book I have in my collection would be a very rare 1915 edition of Uncle Wiggily Longears. It's not in the best condition, but I still love it.
