57th US Infantry medal: "Always Forward" motto
a careful examination tells me that this medal never had a loop for a ribbon when manufactured; from a trace of what could be solder someone may have put their own loop on at one time . . . but did a good job of removing as the surface is smooth. In excellent condition. I really have no idea where it came from. Perhaps one of my children found it some where at one time. But that would have been years ago. Not a family heirloom.

I have the same 57th U.S. Infantry medal with "Dunham Made, S.A. Tex., Sterling on reverse. Mine has a loop that appears to be part of original. My father found it beachcombing the New Jersey Shore years ago. I have no use for it and would just as soon sell it.
