I picked this up about a week ago and I don't know much about it. It says that it's a 1890 Clinton Wall Trunk. It's in pretty good shape and I'm debating if I should leave it original and just clean it up or redo it?

Looks like someone beat you to the 'redo' bit. I say go for it - it shouldn't harm the value, which is lessened by the missing handle(s) anyway.

Hi Bitchinlegz, your trunk is not in original condition but rather has been painted, looks like it has been painted over wood, if its paint over canvas that makes it easier, the trunk, like you said appears to be in really good shape, if it were me I would strip off the paint or canvas to bare wood and stain, you can also replace the handels. feel free to ask any questions. greendog
