Was given this from an elderly lady in my Little Rock, AR neighborhood back in 2001. I had helped her clean out her cellar for a yard sale and she offered to pay me at the end of the afternoon. I refused, so she insisted I take an item from the pieces in the cellar and I chose this chest for its storage. All these years later, I just recently noticed the name pasted on the interior lid. I love that this chest now has a history I can substantiate.

Curious what the B.B. may stand for? It's on the lid of the trunk and on the lower edge of each side.

I imagine that would be the initials of the previous owner.

BB are the initials of the owner. Charles Sturm, the mathematician, was not the owner as he was dead when this trunk was made. This French trunk was made in the early 1900's. The Charles Strum on the label is the proprietor of the store that sold this trunk as stated on the label. Here is a complete translation of the label.

Good call Jim, I take it you read the E-bay description of the trunk, hate it when people try to take advantage of other's .
