This advertising is from 1916 from a local Scranton Pa. publication
G.W. Fritz est. 1856 410 Lackawanna ave Scranton Pa.According to an article in Harness trade goods -dated July 1913,the firm of G.W. Fritz was first a harness/saddle manufacturer later expanding into the trunks robes and cases.

The above article D. Bartholomew- Harness, saddles, trunks and robes mentions
G.W. Fritz as having trained/apprenticed not only D. Bartholomew but several other manufactures learned the craft as well.
Thanks for the post, hope this helps some. It is a nice canvas covered solid flat top trunk with some heavy duty latches, lid lifter and brass lock. This was a quite common trunk from the late 1800s into the early 1900s. You are quite lucky to even find a label as many were unmarked.

The 3,000 man Scranton riots of 1877 are certainly what brought First Sergeant
Daniel Bartholomew, one of the Military leaders of the many forces involved in squashing riotous mobs. These mobs were attacking Scranton Business owners and shops such a G.W. Fritz. and others (Post: Lackawanna Railroad strike).Something tells me this impacted the Trunk
Business a bit during this mini depression in American history .
In 1897 he went on with a partner to form a Pittsburg Pa. Co. "The consumer Ice and Storage co."
He is Listed as the secretary /treasurer

He was partnered on multiple mining patents
Eventually purchasing a mine in Arkansas in 1908 for $10,000 with R.H. Reynolds.
Becoming again the secretary and treasurer of a that concern.
