I got this at an estate sale a while back. To me, this has a Wedgewood look to it but it is not marked. The only marking on the bottom is a number of 10/16. Can anyone tell me who the maker is and what this would originally been used for and if it used to have a lid

Any ideas as to maker-could it be Wedgwood??
It's really lovely. As it's not marked Wedgwood, it would be really early, as Wedgwood nearly always marked their pieces. I wonder if it could be German, like Schafer and Vater?
Largely copied but not the quality of Wedgewood.
interesting piece. are there holes in it for drainage? is it jasperware? where did you find it? the letter "J" w/ the steerhead make me think that it was made for a somewhat wealthy rancher. i'd say 1916.
Thanks for the all the input!! I got this at an estate sale in an old house. I had never heard of Schafer Vater till now, but they do have some interesting pieces. This does appear to be jasperwsre, but still not sure of maker or even functionality of piece. It is currently in my kitchen and holds dish soap bottles etc on the counter. I love the scene and coloring on it. Thanks again
